Flower Preservation Brisbane is one of Australia's leading specialists in floral preservation.

We offer both resin preservation and framed preservation, and we believe it is important for our customers to understand the differences between the two options. We also aim to educate our customers about the process, the quality of materials, and the time involved in creating each custom piece. This way, you can make an informed decision before you book.

What is the process to book?

Please review the gallery and products page to select the piece or pieces you would like. Additionally, we recommend reading the FAQs to gain a better understanding of each preservation option.

Once you have made your decisionsimply select the items and add them to your cart. When adding the items, you will need to choose the drop-off date for your flowers, as well as the time and quantity you wish to order. You will also have the option to choose between two payment options. You can either pay the total amount in full or select the second option to pay a deposit of 35% and then pay the rest of the total order amount in 30 days.

Once your order is completed, you will receive an automatic email with detailed instructions on where and how to drop off your flowers on the scheduled day. On the chosen drop-off day and time, simply bring your flowers to the Everton Park location. If you are unable to make the drop-off time, please contact us via text message in advance to arrange a new time. Once your pieces are ready, you will receive an email notification to arrange a pickup time or postage for the items. Please note that the completion of your order can take anywhere from 4 to 7 months.

Properly preserving flowers is a slow process, and the time required can be influenced by factors such as the number of pieces ordered, the type of flowers, and the weather.

It's crucial to book ahead of time to secure your drop-off date, as we only have 6 bookings available per week. This is especially important if your drop-off date falls between July and December, as that is our busy season and dates get booked out a year in advance.

Resin Pieces

Resin display pieces consist of a select few of your dried flowers that are encased in resin. These gorgeous resin pieces come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The process of casting flowers into resin involves several steps.

The bouquet needs to be disassembled to remove any tape or wire added by the florist. Each flower will be dried individually in silica to ensure it holds its shape and colour. Drying times can vary from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the size and type of flower. Once the flowers are completely dried, they will be removed from the silica.

The flowers will be arranged in a design that best suits them to the mould. Then, the first layer of resin will be poured to lock the flowers into place. The first layer needs to be fully set before any more resin can be poured to prevent the flowers from floating up in the resin.

Multiple layers of resin will be poured until the mould is full. To ensure the best results and to prevent the resin from overheating if poured too deeply, the resin must be poured in multiple thin layers, allowing each layer 48 hours to set before the next pour. Depending on the size of the pieces, this can be anywhere from 5 to 15 layers. Please note that this is not a fast process and can take 4 to 6 months before a piece is finished.

The piece is then taken out of the mould when ready and is prepared for the final layer of resin, known as a top coat. Top coat resin is a special resin designed to add extra protection, shine, and more UV protection to the piece.

Framed BOUQUET

Framed bouquets are a great way to display your entire bridal bouquet on the wall for you to admire. The bouquet needs to be disassembled to remove any tape or wire added by the florist that might affect the preservation process. Each flower will have its stem removed and both the flower and stem will be dried individually in silica to ensure they hold their shape and color. Drying times can vary from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the size and type of flower. Depending on the type and size of your flowers they might be slightly altered in appearance to best suit the frame depth. Once the flowers are completely dried, they will be removed from the silica. After the flowers have been specially dried, they are then arranged in the style of your bouquet and fixed onto the mat board. When the bouquet has been mounted on the mat board, it is then placed into a custom-made deep frame and sealed to prevent any dust or moisture from affecting the flowers. The frame comes in both black and white and is available in a few different sizes for you to choose from. You can also choose to upgrade the glass from UV-resistant glass to museum glass for an additional cost.

What is the difference between standard glass, UV resistant glass and museum glass?

Standard glass can protect your flowers from humidity and dust, but it doesn't provide any UV protection and has a shiny surface that reflects the surroundings in your room, making it difficult to appreciate your artwork. Therefore, Flower Preservation Brisbane recommends upgrading to UV treated glass for extra protection against sun rays, which can cause fading over time. Museum glass and UV glass are premium products that offer superior protection and a better viewing experience compared to standard glass.

UV Glass – has an advanced anti-reflective coating, achieves less than 1% light reflection and blocks 70% of UV light.
