FAQ'S

We understand that having your bridal bouquet or special occasion flowers preserved may be a new experience. To make the process easier, we have compiled answers to our most frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between a framed piece and a resin floral block.

We offer two ways to preserve your bouquet. Firstly, we put the whole bouquet into a custom deep frame, which is then sealed to prevent any moisture or dust from getting in. The frame comes in different sizes and allows you to display your flowers in a bouquet style. Secondly, we create resin pieces using a select few of your flowers that have been dried and encased in resin. These beautiful resin pieces come in various shapes and sizes.

Can I add other items into my piece?

Yes, you can as long as it is a item that contains no moisture and is completely dry to not effect the resin. Some items that people love to add are photo’s - lace- small trinkets.

Why do my flowers need to be dried?

No matter if you choose to go with the framed option or resin, the flowers must be dried 1st to preserve the colour and shape to them. Flowers that are not dried correctly will still contain moisture and over time will start to discolour and rot.

All White bouquets?

Unfortunately , I do not accept all-white bouquets e.g just white rose with no greenery. I find that an all white boutique casted in clear resin can disappear in to the piece and look a bit flat. White flowers are also extremely hard to work with in resin and can easily discolored throughout the drying process. A bouquet that is mostly white but still has greenery and some other softer tone flowers in it are fine.

Will the flowers look different?

Yes, flowers will change from how they looked originally when fresh. Throughout the drying process, flowers can change shape, size and either the colour will lighten or darken depending on the type of flower.

What are the best flowers to preserve?

Colourful bright flowers and Australian natives are the best flowers to preserve. When native flowers dry they hold shape and colour really well. Colourful flowers when drying retain their natural vibrancy beautifully and work well holding their colour in resin.

How long does the process take?

Please keep in mind that drying and preserving flowers properly is a time-consuming process, and I typically allow for a turnaround time of around 4 to 5 months. Several factors come into play when preserving flowers. The first factor is that each fresh flower needs to be individually dried, and this can take some time. Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up the drying process for each flower, and some flowers with thicker centers or more petals may take longer to dry than others. The second factor is the size of your order. A larger order will naturally take a bit longer to complete. Additionally, all of the framed pieces are handcrafted and made to order, which can add some additional time to the process. If you are choosing resin pieces, the style and size of the piece will also affect the turnaround time. Depending on the size, there may be anywhere from 6 to 20 layers of resin in just one piece. Each new layer of resin needs to cure before the next layer can be poured to prevent a buildup of bubbles in the piece. The humidity in the air can also affect the flower drying and resin pouring process, so hotter months may slow down the process.

How long does a piece last?

A few factors determine how long your flowers will last. Such as where you display your items and the amount of sunlight, humidity, and heat that the frame or resin piece is exposed to. Every framed piece is sealed so that dust and little bugs don't get inside the piece. The backing to frames are 100% Alpha-Cellulose, Acid-Free and Lignin-Free Surface. A high-quality UV-resistant glass is also used to add extra protection to the piece. With all resin pieces once the flower is fully sealed, it is then protected from any oxygen or moisture that may damage it over time. Giving you a piece that can last for years to come. Please note that all resin pieces will over time slightly discolour depending on placement, giving the artwork a slightly vintage feel. The casting resin that is used is a top-quality resin that contains UV inhibitors that will delay the change in colour of the piece. A few tips to enjoy your flowers forever: - Place your piece away from direct sunlight that will cause the piece to discolour and avoid bathrooms where the piece may be exposed to a lot of humidity. -Adding a black background to your resin pieces can help slow the discolouring of the resin that is caused by overexposure to UV light. - Although the bouquet preservation techniques and sealants help preserve the natural colour of your flowers over time, keep in mind that your piece once had real, living flowers. Expect your flowers to change colours and remember, this is natural. If resin pieces do get dusty and need to be cleaned please hand wash only with cold water and a gentle soap. As long as you treat your piece with care, it should be with you for years to come!

When should I get my flowers to you?

ASAP the sooner the better. Flowers once cut will naturally start to wilt which causes them to brown and shrink. So the sooner I receive the flowers the sooner I can start the correct drying process helping to keep the shape and colour of the flower. The next day is best for drop-offs if possible.

Can I get both a resin piece and a framed piece?

Yes, you definitely can. If you are wanting both A framed piece and A small resin piece like a ring holder that can normally be done with just the brides bouquet. If you are after a framed piece and a larger resin piece or a few resin pieces then I recommend dropping off not only the brides bouquet but also another bouquet or table arrangement for the resin pieces.

Drop off and pick up?

If possible it is best to drop off and pick up the flowers at my studio location. This guarantees that your flowers will 100% make it to me and then back to you. This also saves you on any extra shipping costs and the potential of the flowers getting damaged in the mail. Alternatively, you can arrange to post your flowers to me. I would recommend express post with sign-on delivery of your flowers to me through Australia Post. When your pieces are ready, I can get a quote for the cost of shipping the items to you if pick-up is not an option. Please note that the cost of shipping is not covered in the cost of the pieces and once the order has left my studio I take no liability for them. sending flowers - Package tight with either shredded paper or packing peanuts where there is not a lot of room for the flowers to move around but also the flowers are free from being pushed up against anything. Do not send flowers in any kind of plastic e.g. bubble wrap or in water. You can easily ship your flowers, I will provide the address where you can send your flowers once you have secured your spot with us. Here are a few items you will need for packing: Medium size box,Paper towels, Newspaper, Packing tape, Flowers

Is my BOUQUET kept whole?

To be able to dry the flowers correctly the bouquet will need to be disassembled. Different types of flowers dry at different rates so it is best to separate when drying. Most florists will also wire and tape flowers to keep them in shape in a bouquet which also needs to be removed. Disassembling is all part of the drying process and preserving process so please deliver the bouquet intact.

Black background to my resin items?

With all resin pieces you have the choice between a completely clear casted piece or to add a black background to them. The benefits of having a black background on a resin piece are 1. It will let real help the flowers stand out against the black background 2. Adding the black background to a resin piece will help block some of the UV rays from the resin piece.

Do you have an minimum order requirement?

Yes, I do. Because this a very time-demanding process, no matter what size of piece is created there is a minimum spend of $500 per booking.

Bubbles & imperfections ?

Each resin item is handmade, and while will I do my very best to avoid bubbles and any imperfections in each piece, I need your understanding that a completely bubble-free resin piece is next to impossible. Especially when adding in natural elements like flowers, as they release a lot of air when coated in resin. I do try to take the utmost care in making your pieces, but the nature of resin can be a little bit temperamental. There can also be layer lines, this is also completely normal in a resin piece poured in layers. Resin does not work well if it is too hot or humid and when the resin is set it does start to heat up. So if the resin is poured too deep in one pour it can overheat, create lots of bubbles and discolour in the process. So one way to avoid resin overheating is to pour in multiple layers, the main reason your artwork can take a few months. Petal transparency happens when the petal has been damaged in an area allowing the resin to be able to enter into the petal causing it to go transparent. in the artwork This is a very normal occurrence when bridal flowers go into resin as the flowers are moving around all day at your wedding, causing little micro-tears that can't usually be seen by the naked eye.

Why should you book in ADVANCE?

A few reason why I strongly recommend that you book as soon as you have your wedding date. Bridal bouquet preservation takes a lot time, care and space therefore I only take on 2 booking’s per week. As preserving fresh flowers is a time sensitive it is important to lock your date in. In order to secure your spot, I do require a deposit of 25% to be completed to lock in that date in Another reason is that I typically adjust pricing once a year. The sooner you book, the better, as you will "lock in" the current pricing when booking.

Can you use already dried flowers?

Absolutely! It is just important to note that this will only be possible for resin pieces and the way they look when you dry them is the way they will look in the resin.

Reschedule date?

While I try to accommodate all of my bookings if the new date is not available it might not be a possibility to do so. A rescheduling fee will also be applied to $100 if it is one month or less to the original booking. Please contact me as soon as you know your day will change; as I do require a date to be able to maintain your booking.

Change of mind?

If you change your mind within 10 business days of booking and paying your deposit a full refund will be issued. However, if a change of mind happens after that 10-day time frame a refund will not be accepted.

When Does my payment need to be completed by?

A full payment for your order needs to be completed 1 month before the booked date. You are welcome to pay before then but the total cost of the order must be done at the latest 1 month prior. If payment will be late for whatever reason it is essential to contact before this date to arrange an extension for payment. If you fail to make the payment before the due date and do not contact requesting for an extension this will lead to the booking being cancelled with no refund available.

Refunds?

All orders are custom items therefore I do not offer refunds of any kind. It should be fully understood before proceeding with your order that color changes, imperfections, bubbles, or textures of your flowers will be different and all are completely normal when it comes to flower preservation as set out and stated in the FAQs & and Terms and Conditions.
